starting Doody Enterprises, Dan worked for 15 years in various general management, editorial

at Mosby-Year Book (now wholly owned by Elsevier.)

Joining Dan as expert panelists to answer questions from attendees about the day-to-day life in various
roles in medical publishing will be Rebecca Luttrell, Mary Steermann, and Nicki Augustyn.

Rebecca Luttrell, ELS, has worked in medical publishing since 1994. She has been a manuscript editor for several medical journals, including the Journal of Infectious Diseases, American Journal of Roentgenology, and JAMA Network Open. Her freelance clients have included the Institute of Physics, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and Dartmouth Journal Services (now KnowledgeWorks Global).  In addition, she has taught an introduction to medical editing course at the University of Chicago's Graham School. She is a member of the Council of Science Editors and is a board-certified Editor in the Life Sciences.

Mary Steermann has directed publishing operations for the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has managed yearly publication budgets in excess of $25 million, transitioned editorial and production teams to an XML-first workflow, implemented software to support this effort, and promoted a digital-first strategy that allowed content to be published online ahead of the print product. Mary is currently managing the publication process of ISACA’s learning and professional publication assets. She has been an invited speaker and panelist at the Society of Scholarly Publishers, the Council of Biology Editors, and has held board positions with several publishing associations in the Chicago area.

Nicki Augustyn, Publisher and Senior Vice President, Communications at the American College of Chest Physicians, has held increasingly more senior positions at CHEST since joining the publications team in  2009. She has managed education, program development, marketing, guidelines, and publications as well as serving as a member of the senior management team. She began her career in medical publishing at the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Nicki is a Certified Association Executive.
