About CWIP
Who belongs to CWIP?
Our recent member survey told us this about our members:
- Members' jobs most commonly include copy or manuscript editor, web content writer or editor, communications manager, and proofreader, but jobs range from marketing to graphic design and from printing to media and public relations.
- 51 percent live within the Chicago city limits, 42 percent in the suburbs, and 7 percent outside of Chicago.
- Whether you're an experienced professional or new to the industry, you'll find your peers in CWIP.
What do we do?
We're busy. We meet monthly on the third Wednesday at National-Louis University in downtown Chicago for networking and a career-related educational
program. We also hold spring and fall receptions. Smaller groups also meet monthly in the city
and the suburbs for informal networking get-togethers.

Our Mission Statement
Chicago Women in Publishing (CWIP) is a nonprofit volunteer
organization formed in 1972 for professionals in the publishing
industry and allied fields. Our purpose is to explore and improve the
status of publishing professionals, to assist members in greater
professional achievement, and to provide a forum for the exchange of
ideas.
CWIP offers programs, services, and networking opportunities to advance publishing careers. Membership is open to women and men who support CWIP's goals. Our aim is to be Chicago's most respected source of publishing education, information, outreach, leadership, and career opportunities.
