Meet the January Program Speaker
Anita Samen joined the University of Chicago Press in 1992 (as a production editor) and became managing editor in 1998. She was a member of the team that prepared the fifteenth edition of The Chicago Manual of Style and was one of the co-authors of the two chapters on documentation (but please, no hard questions about how to cite something). Anita has given numerous presentations about The Chicago Manual of Style (including one at CWIP in October of 2003) and manuscript editing in general and has taught editing at the University of Chicago's Graham School of General Studies.
Before joining the University of Chicago Press, Anita held editorial positions in the college departments of Macmillan (as a developmental editor), Scribner's (as an acquiring editor) and St. Martin's Press (as a project editor). She has also been a freelance editor, specializing in health care and the social sciences.
Anita has a BA in history from the University of Wisconsin.
