Trying to break into publishing and get experience? Do you want to expand your portfolio of clips? Clips, Chicago Women in Publishing’s member newsletter, offers opportunities to write feature articles, edit and proofread stories, and work on design and layout.

Jobvine is an online job posting service for our members. You’ll be among the first to learn about available positions as you help spread the word to members.

Looking for ways to network with other professionals in the publishing, communications and design fields? Want to gain exposure to different areas of the Chicago publishing scene? The Membership Committee needs people to work on recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. The committee plans two member socials every year.

Enjoy rubbing elbows with fellow CWIPers, as well as with industry pros, at the Wednesday night programs? When you volunteer for the Programs Committee, you’ll expand your publishing and marketing savvy by meeting publishing experts, hosting networking events, and researching and employing innovative methods of publicity. Volunteers are needed to generate program ideas for the year, contact potential speakers, coordinate, and publicize the events to CWIP members and beyond.

Have great ideas for social events? Develop your event planning skills by choosing to help us plan either our annual holiday party scheduled for early December or our end-of-year reception scheduled for June. We’ll have food, drink, and conversation.

Publicity and Social Media

Have creative and innovative ideas for spreading the word about CWIP? Join the Publicity and Social Media Committee and help write messages for CWIP’s bimonthly e-newsletter, draft promotional messages, create fliers, and use the Web and social media channels to publicize events. Share your ideas on how to get the word out about CWIP events to our membership and the entire publishing community.
